An African Gang? Yes- The Mungiki in Kenya

The Mungiki was inspired by the 1950s Mau Mau rebellion against the British colonial rule. The so called "gang" has had clashes with residents near the town of Karatina that has killed at least 29 people. The Mungiki emerged in the 1990s and it has thousands of followers from Kikuyu, Kenya's larges tribe.

W.D. Snodgrass 1926-2009

1960 Pulitzer Prize Winner for the book "Heart's Needle", W.D. Snodgrass died last week. He hosted a seminar at the International Society of Poets last summer.
